Douglas Henshall will play the lead role in new BBC One drama Shetland.

The books of the award-winning crime writer Ann Cleeves are to be made into a new drama by BBC Scotland and ITV.

Dougie says: "I am very much looking forward to working with David Kane, filming in Scotland and being back on BBC One."

Stephen Fry and Douglas (Dougie) Henshall are to star in new ITV drama Doors Open.

‘Not only a crime with no victims but one that appears never to have been committed’

A self-made millionaire, an art professor and a banker come together to undertake an audacious art heist in Doors Open, a fast paced, warm and witty drama set in the underbelly of Edinburgh’s world of corporate banking and fine art. Filming begins on April 23rd.

According to BBC media, Douglas Henshall is to join Suranne Jones and an all-star cast in The Secret Of Crickley Hall, a chilling haunted house event drama for BBC One this autumn. Filming starts this month in and around the Manchester area.

Tena Stivicic and Zagreb Youth Theatre (Croatia) will be working together with Birmingham Repertory Theatre (UK), Dresden State Theatre (Germany) and Teatr Polski Bydgoszcz (Poland) and one of each country’s leading playwrights – Steve Waters, Lutz Hubner and Malgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk to create a unique piece of theatre revealing varying attitudes towards Europe across the continent.
The writers will collaborate to create a multi-authored, multi-lingual play based on research and interviews in their own countries. The play, currently titled Four Cities, Four Stories will tour to each country in 2013.

Douglas Henshall will play journalist, Sean Langan, who was kidnapped and held hostage by the Taliban in 2008, in BBC Four single drama, Hotel Taliban co-written by Norman Hull and Sean Langan.
